Gary is a long-time "Christian Brother's boy." He attended San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno and graduated from Saint Mary's College in 1962.
Gary and his wife, Vera, decided to fund a Charitable Remainder Trust with a significant portion of their net worth. To quote Gary, "I wanted to go above and beyond for the Brothers as they did for me many years ago, and as they continue to do today with a new generation of students."
Gary and Vera were married in 1969 and continue to operate a floor covering store, Carpet One Floor & Home, in Whittier, California which Gary started in 1976.
